'Roswell' Star Moves to 'L.A.'

The men in Shiri Appleby's life are always surprising her. On "Roswell," her character discovered her boyfriend was an alien. In her latest project, "To Love and Die in L.A." her character finds out her father is an assassin.

"Love and Die" is the USA Network's latest greenlit pilot. In the 90-minute pilot, a young woman (Appleby) wants to get to the root of her datig problems and abandonment issues. She therefore decides to find her estranged father, who she learns is a contract killer. Somehow, this revelation sheds light on her relationship issues, and soon she realizes that she may have found a new career path. What that would be wasn't explained.

Appleby is best known for playing the meek diner waitress Liz on the teen angst-alien drama "Roswell." Her film credits include "The Thirteenth Floor," "Swimf@n," "The Battle of Shaker Heights" and "When Do We Eat?" She recently appeared on the ABC drama "Six Degrees" opposite Campbell Scott.
