SHIRI APPLEBY TRANSCRIPT FROM CRAIG KILBORN 9/10/2002

Craig Kilborn starts off with "starring in the #1 movie swimfan"...it then goes to clip where Ben is checking his email and a naked picture of Madison pops up and then Amy appears behind the computer and startles Ben...Kilborn then goes on to say "please welcome Shiri Appleby...she comes out looking all cute and shakes his hand...
people scream for like 5 minutes...

Shiri: so how are you? (to Craig)
she then screams out to the fans
Shiri: hiiiiiiii!!!
Craig Kilborn: they love you.
Shiri: they do?
she gives a wave and tilts head to the side so shyly...
people are still screaming...she waves her hands for everyone to quiten down...
Shiri: shhhhhh...
Craig Kilborn: how ya doin?
after a long period of waiting for screams to subside..
Shiri: umm, to be honest with you, a little nervous right now.
Craig Kilborn: you are?
Shiri: uh-huh, yeah just a little bit.
Craig Kilborn: you don't like the whole talk show thing?
Shiri: yeah...it's a little bit intimidating.
Craig Kilborn: doing the talk shows?
Shiri: yeah...your my first late night talk show...
Craig Kilborn: oh yeah?
Shiri: yeah...your taking that from me...
Craig Kilborn: i'm taking that from-
Shiri: yeah let's just do it really calm. (alot of screams)
Craig Kilborn: have you seen the show before?
Shiri: Thanks-(to the audience-i think someone yelled something to her) i watched your show last night...snoop was here.
Craig Kilborn: that's right, snoop was here.
Shiri: yeah i watched it.
Craig Kilborn: yeah? he's good.
Shiri: yeah i like him very much.
Craig Kilborn: what can i do to help?
Shiri: let's just do it together...slow...easy...
craig is smiling right now and rubbing hands together.
Craig Kilborn: i understand that you wanted to come in wearing a tshirt and jeans?
Shiri: yeah...i'm like much more of a casual girl...that people tell me i have to get all dressed up.
Craig Kilborn: oh, your people? (shiri rolls her eyes) but you are wearing jeans, and your top is...is fetching...it's...
Shiri: do you like it?
Craig Kilborn: i do...
Shiri: thank you.
Craig Kilborn: because there is alot of things going on.
Shiri: well tell me about them. (audience whistles and screams)
Craig Kilborn: well, (points to arms) if you see this shot right here...it's see through...i believe.
Shiri: yes.
craig starts pulling up her arm so it would be visible to the audience.
Craig Kilborn: ...and there is some design down here.
Shiri: uh-huh, your really doing a good job for the designer tonight...keep going.
Craig Kilborn: i don't know the designer.
Shiri: oh i do...folea (FO-LEE-AAA?)
she then looks straight into the camera.
Shiri: love your clothes.
Craig Kilborn: folea?
Shiri: yeah..uh sure.
Craig Kilborn: okay and then it's not see through here which is...good.
Shiri: wholesome?
Craig Kilborn: wholesome!
Shiri: thank you.
Craig Kilborn: so it's sexy and then wholesome.
Shiri: right.
Craig Kilborn: and...which confuses me!(craig shakes his fingers crazily by his head-everyone laughs.)
Craig Kilborn: how about also...oh i guess when you do get interviewed, you get interviewed by the magazines and newspaper...all that kind of stuff...and you have a nervous habit?
Shiri: right.
Craig Kilborn: which you haven't done here yet...i don't think.
Shiri: giggle?
Craig Kilborn: yeah.
Shiri: i've done it like the whole time.
Craig Kilborn: you've been giggling?
Shiri: i just kind of do this (smiles cheesily) thing alot.
Craig Kilborn: oh, it's not audible then...it's just the look of you (copying her look).
Shiri: yeah (she then does the laugh with her face mockingly) oh craig your so funny...(giggles in between)
craig and everyone is laughing and smiling.
Craig Kilborn: that's good!
Shiri: how am i doing?
Craig Kilborn: i think your doing well...
Shiri: okay, great.
Craig Kilborn: you seem, you don't seem nervous...you seem...your smiling, it looks like your having a good time.
Shiri: i kind of am having a good time with you right now.
Craig Kilborn: kind of?
Shiri: yeah.
Craig Kilborn: okay.
Shiri: what else is going on? (jokingly)
everyone starts laughing.
Craig Kilborn: it's the #1 movie.
Shiri: yes.
Craig Kilborn: ...and the critics did not like it right? and then it becomes #1 and then your mom forewarns you...what did your mom say?
Shiri: she just warned me to not be too disappointed if it did not make quite of bit of money and so she thought that it wouldn't make 5 million dollars.
Craig Kilborn: the entire weekend?
Shiri:...yeahhh...and it made 5 million opening night.
Craig Kilborn: opening night?
Shiri: and so i called her at 12 o clock to uh...kinda...
Craig Kilborn: rub it in?
Shiri: yeah! pretty much. (everyone laughs)
Craig Kilborn: that's good.
Shiri: i think that she was just in case it didn't work out to lesson the blow...
Craig Kilborn: being the nice mom?
Shiri: being a good mom.
Craig Kilborn: softening it for you.
Shiri: supportive.
Craig Kilborn: and then when it makes the money, she says i want some of that? is that how mom operates?
Shiri: no, she would be like i want some of THIS not 'some of that', THIS specifically.
Craig Kilborn: what was your reaction to seeing the movie yourself?
Shiri: uhhh, well, i actually went the 1st night it opened. i went to the mann chinese with a group of people, embarrassingly enough, and i didn't...
Craig Kilborn: you were in disguise, you were youself or what?
Shiri: well, i kind of have long hair so i kind of just did this (pulling hair in front of her face)and walked in assuming that nobody would...nobody did and walked in and i sat and watched the movie with...
Craig Kilborn: with the people?
Shiri: with the normal people-believe or not-yeah it was really fun...
Craig Kilborn: i must have been a-
Shiri: it's bizarre, because i am kissing alot and its rather wierd to watch yourself.
Craig Kilborn: kiss?
Shiri: yeah i mean
Craig Kilborn: no,no,no.
Shiri: it's just wierd.
Craig Kilborn: i think it's cool. (everyone laughs) if you put-when i was little, we used to put the mirror on the side, not in the bed, down in the living room...
Shiri: i am so scared of where this story is going...
Craig Kilborn: i'm just making it up.
Shiri: okay, so ummmm, yeah its just kind of wierd watching yourself make out.
Craig Kilborn: right.
Shiri: so i watched it with the audienceand it was fine but...
Craig Kilborn: were they hooting and hollering? what were they doing?
INTERVIEW CONT'D...
Shiri: yeah you know they were just being an audience, being supportive of the movie and enjoying it so to speak and i'm just like 'oh my god'...
Craig Kilborn: it's so embarrassing...
Shiri: it's kind of emabarrassing.
Craig Kilborn: because your so much bigger on the screen, your lips are bigger and the making out, it just seems so intense right?
Craig Kilborn: am i right?
Shiri: yeah i never want to see...yeah...it's pretty intense...yeah.
Craig Kilborn: moving right along.
Shiri: thank you so much.
Shiri: what else you got there? (acting like she's looking on his desk for questions)
Craig Kilborn: you got the commercials, years ago, when you got your start?
Shiri: yeah i started when i was a little kid and i had a commercial on when i was a freshman in college...the taco bell commercial...
Craig Kilborn: that was big.
Shiri: right before the dog came on...it was me. so in college everyone referred to me as the "taco bell girl" which is not very good when your trying to get a date...cause they don't want to refer to you as the taco bell girl...ya know? it just doesn't go over very well.
Craig Kilborn: so that was bothering you that they all wanted to date the taco bell girl?
Shiri: it wasn't like the biggest claim to fame.
Craig Kilborn: right. you wanted something nicer than that.
Shiri: right, so i decided to do a tc show where i date an alien...(shiri and craig point at each other with goofy looks on the faces) ahhhhhhhh...there ya go....exactly...yeah i'm with ya!
Craig Kilborn: that's funny...but maybe, may-BE it's easier to say the taco bell girl than shiri...
Shiri: which is so difficult which i am so thankful you got it right.
Craig Kilborn: i know, it took me a long time i have practiced all day...in front of a the mirror...while i was kissing. (everyone laughs)
Craig Kilborn: no, now this is your mom. why couldn't she have named you sherry?
Shiri: because she wanted me to be unique and special and a little bit different...shiri.
Craig Kilborn: shiri...
Shiri: shiiiri...
Craig Kilborn: the taco bell girl...shiri...tell 'em about your one regret in high school that you won't admit to.
Shiri: are you really making me say this on the air?
Craig Kilborn: this is the kind of stuff i enjoy!
Shiri: i asked specifically, if it came up in conversation i said please so don't make him...i was a cheerleader. (drops her head in shame-horrible gasps from the audience)
Craig Kilborn: om my gosh!
Craig Kilborn: are you going to be okay?
Shiri: No I AM NOT...for one year...they asked me not to try out again.
Craig Kilborn: so you weren't very good?
Shiri: i was just really bossy.
Craig Kilborn: so you were skilled, you were just telling everyone else what to do.
Shiri: pretty much.
Craig Kilborn: yeah, what year were you when you started cheerleading?
Shiri: a sophomore.
Craig Kilborn: a sophomore? and you were on the carsity squad or what?
Shiri: i was a jv
Craig Kilborn: jv...junior varsity squad...
Shiri: uh-huh.
Craig Kilborn: and they said please don't come out next yearor your kicked off?
Shiri: it was just kinda like "uh, you going to try out?" you know what i mean?
Shiri: i didn't.
Craig Kilborn: so you got kicked off...kind of?...not kicked off.
Shiri: not kicked off, just not cordially invited back.
Craig Kilborn: but that's cool because if you would have said "craig, i was a cheerleader for 3 years and i'm embarrassed..."
Shiri: that's just so not cool.
Craig Kilborn: that's not cool. so just one year. so what should we do about saving this for cheerleaders ti say it's okay?
Shiri: oh, it's great to be involved in things ar school...just don't tell people about it on national television.
craig is laughing.
Craig Kilborn: we're out of time. it's nice meeting you.
Shiri: oh thank you so much.
Craig Kilborn: shiri appleby from swimfan.
