Shiri Appleby announced that she’s getting behind the camera this fall for not one – but for two shows.

As earlier reported, she will direct an episode for The CW’s re-imagining of “Roswell”. “Roswell, New Mexico” is based on the “Roswell High” books by Melinda Metz and Laura J. Burns. The series premieres on the network during the 2018-2019 mid-season. Shiri mentioned in her latest Instagram Live video that she already saw the pilot. (Learn more about The CW show here.)

If you are interested in watching the pilot episode before the series debut, you’ve got the chance to attend a first screening of the “Roswell, New Mexico” at New York Comic-Con 2018. (Please read more on Crashdown.com: Roswell, NM – Pilot To Premiere At #NYCC 2018)

The second show is “Perfectionists” – the Pretty Little Liars spin-off.

Thanks to Twitter this directing job will happen. After the announcement that Shiri will get on the director’s chair for “Roswell, NM”, PLL fan Sophia wrote a #femalefilmmakerfriday support tweet (we did not care that it was already Saturday, too) and suggested to get Shiri on board to direct an episode of the spin-off. Shiri and Marlene King were tagged and Shiri replied with excitement to this tweet: “I’d love to direct an episode. Liz Allen was a directing mentor of mine and directed the pilot. What do you say @imarleneking?? 🌟”

“Liz Allen shot the hell out of the #PLLPerfs pilot.” wrote the showrunner and she added ”I can’t wait to share it w you @ShiriAppleby! And we can/should discuss 🎬” “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists” is coming to Freeform in 2019. A teaser trailer is available on YouTube.

Shiri wrote on Facebook: “I’m so beyond excited and grateful for all the support I’ve received from everyone. Widening your lane doesn’t come easy and I can’t wait to give these new adventures my all!! X” Please head on over to Shiri’s official Facebook page and read her full message here.
